THE GED TEST

The "GED®Test" is made up of four separate computer-based tests offered through Pearson Vue:

  • Mathematical Reasoning
  • Reasoning Through Language Arts
  • Science
  • Social Studies

You must pass all four tests to complete your GED.  In January 2016, the GED established these scoring levels:

Pass/High School Equivalency: 145-164
GED College Ready:                 165-174
GED College Ready + Credit:    175-200

Scores in the GED College Ready + Credit range may enable to test-taker to earn up to 9 hours of college credit. Contact your GED testing program to determine requirements and availability of college credit for GED scores.

Learn more about the Test by visiting the National GED Testing site.

GED TEST CENTERS

The GED® Test cannot be taken at home. The Test is administered and monitored at Official GED Testing Centers, where you must check-in in person to take the test on a computer.

Local Community Colleges

Portland Community College, Clackamas Community College, and Mt. Hood Community College have GED preparation classes. Some classes may be available online.
